2014 OPERS Fall Festival, Tue. Sept. 30, 3:00 -6:00pm
The OPERS Fall Festival is held annually on the Tuesday of Welcome Week. It is a resource fair for new undergrad and graduate students to learn about the activities and services offered at UCSC. Over 150 student groups, clubs, organizations and campus offices have tables including Sports Clubs, Recreation Clubs, Outdoor Adventures, Intramural Sports, SOAR organizations, fraternities and sororities, Ethnic Resource Centers, Women's Center, Cantu GLBTI Center, Sustainability Office, Transportation & Parking Services, Student Health Center, and much more.
UCSC Dining Services provides dinner for meal-card holders and dinner can also be purchased on site. The meal is presented as a Farmer's Market-style event with different stations where you redeem a ticket for food items. The food purchased and served is locally and sustainably produced to provide an experiential learning environment in sustainable food systems and bring awareness to organic farming and healthy eating.
This is a Zero Waste event and all participants are encouraged to consider waste reduction practices. This includes bringing your own water bottle to refill at our water stations, creating outreach materials that are reusuable, and discarding all utensils and plates from Dining Services into compostable bins at Recycling Stations.
Traditionally the Fall Festival is held on the Upper East Field. Due to drought conditions this year, the field is deteriorating and most likely we will not be able to hold the Fall Festival on the field in September. The contingency plan is to hold the event in the East Field House complex and the OPERS Upper Parking Lot #103.
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED UNTIL WE CAN DETERMINE HOW MANY MORE TABLES WE CAN ACCOMMODATE
