Information on Divemaster Course

PREREQUISITE:

  • Contact Instructor, Cecilia Shin, ASAP if interested
  • Certified Rescue Diver
  • Completed UCSC Scuba Medical Packet
  • Certified in Standard First Aid, Adult CPR/AED, and O2 Administration
  • 60 logged dives
  • Possess diving accident insurance (DAN)
  • Possess your own skin and scuba equipment (including ocean weights). All your gear must be labeled with your name.
  • Pass the NAUI Master Diver exam (to be taken at the first lecture). May purchase the textbook and workbook from Cecilia.
  • Pass the DM swim, skin, and scuba pool test (to be done the first weekend of instruction in January)
  • Permission codes will be handed out to those who pass the NAUI Master Diver exam and pool test

REQUIREMENT FOR CERTIFICATION:

  • Attend all lectures.
  • Complete all pool and ocean sessions.
  • Pass the DM exam and DM ocean skills.
  • Give a Powerpoint presentation on an Advanced Scuba topic.
  • Submit a SEABAG with ERP for a dive site.
  • Complete the “NAUI Leadership and Instruction” Workbook.
  • Lead 3 Scuba Club dives.
  • Complete 3 weekend days of Dive Locker Duty.
  • All course work must be completed by the end of Spring Quarter.
  • CANDIDATE MUST DISPLAY LEADERSHIP QUALITIES THROUGHOUT WINTER QTR IN ORDER TO CONTINUE THIS COURSE SPRING QTR.

COST: Course fee is $315 for Winter Quarter and $315 for Spring Quarter. This includes all material and application fees.
