Men's Rugby Club

Men's Rugby 2016-2017

This is the oldest club on campus, fielding the inaugural team in 1967. They were also the first team here at UCSC to call themselves the “Slugs”. Become a part of history! Play Slug Rugby. The UCSC Rugby club fields two men’s teams.  Each side attempts to ground the ball beyond their opponents’ goal line while the opponents attempt to tackle the ball carrier. It’s that simple. This is the oldest tradition on campus. Traditional games are played against the likes of Stanford and Berkeley. Visiting teams have been from England, Argentina, New Zealand and around the world. This is a Tier IA Team. No experience necessary.
