Judo Club 2016-2017

Judo is a Japanese martial art derived from Ju-Jitsu, karate, and wrestling. In Japanese, Judo means gentle way. The founder of Judo, Jigoro Kano, modified dangerous and inefficient techniques from these sports, allowing for both elegant and safe competition between two combatants. The art stresses dynamic, elegant throws, upholding finesse, and as a fundamental principle, the achievement of maximum efficiency with minimal effort. Through traditional and modern training methods, members perfect the art, improve their fitness, and gain close relationships with each other. With continued refinement, a comprehensive grappling sport soon developed and was eventually added to the 1964 Olympiad games held in Tokyo, Japan. The purpose of the organization is to gather Judo enthusiasts, both new and experienced, to practice and appreciate the sport. The two central principles of our organization are to build character, confidence, and integrity in our members, and communal prosperity both on and off the mat.
